Position Specific Description
**This position is based out of the Bayfront Office in Pensacola, FL** This position reports to a functional team within the Grid Control Systems (GCS) under the Power Delivery (PD) organization responsible for the development, architecture, engineering, implementation, and operations of grid control systems and its corresponding applications and infrastructure. This includes but not limited to, Energy Management System (EMS), Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Data Archiving systems in support of T&S Business Unit grid control operations and strategic initiatives. Development of these systems include modifying and/or de-commissioning or commissioning the associated applications, architecture, infrastructure, and communication systems and are required to comply with national/regional standards (e. g., FERC Orders, NERC Standards, ERCOT Regulations, etc.). This position will be assigned to individually contribute to assigned work plans for the following functional responsibilities under the GCS organization: Modeling & Database – responsible for support of transmission modeling of power system equipment necessary for grid control applications; this functional team is also responsible for the maintenance of all situational awareness displays for operators/dispatchers. This position will be required to be on functional area callout rotation to provide 24 by 7 computer support. The person on callout rotation serves as the primary contact for operational activities related to troubleshooting, incidence response, and major operational processes within the Control Center Operations organization for a specific functional area. The end results from the effort put in by a person in this position include, but not limited to the following: (a) highly available grid control systems applications that meet or exceed development or operational targets, (b) compliant cyber security and protection processes of grid control systems applications and infrastructure, (c) strong customer relationships to the organization’s internal and external customers, and (d) efficient execution of work plan and related activities in the systems development and/or maintenance and support of grid control systems applications and infrastructure to meet or exceed objectives. To achieve these results, a person in this position needs to demonstrate through training and/or acquired experience (a) the necessary technical and functional skills required to contribute his/her expertise to a functional area within the GCS organization, (b) excellent development, operational and organizational skills necessary to deliver highly available grid control systems applications and infrastructure, (c) resource management skills to prioritize work plans to develop, maintain, and support systems critical to the GCS organization, (d) commercial awareness to ensure that risks are properly managed, and (e) an indomitable spirit of seeking value through technical innovation and operational excellence. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering Other Expectations • Must be available for on-call support to provide solutions to emergent operational issues
• Professional Engineering License (PE)
• Working knowledge of electrical principles and concepts
• Working knowledge of real-time EMS functionality
• Working knowledge and able to use programming languages and scripting, such as C++, Fortran, Java, Oracle, Perl, etc.
• Working knowledge of applicable policies, rules, regulations, and codes in the electrical utility field and cyber security, especially on NERC CIP Standards
• Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Have effective oral and written communications skills
• Must be available to report for occasional night and weekend duty during storms and system emergencies
• Define working objectives, develop recommended strategies, and implement solutions
• Adapt to changing priorities of assignments
• Recommend procedural changes
• Interpret design and operating policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
• Must be willing to take Personnel Risk Assessment periodically

- Ensures compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) Reliability Standards
- Executes Operational Excellence goals and initiatives
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
