Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Division is currently seeking an Engineer who can apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to solar power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering issues and processes. This position requires supervision only related to high level objective and critical issues.

Responsibilities Include:

• Support component failure rate analysis and development of work plans
• Become a subject matter expert in at least one inverter manufacturer
• Conducting root-cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures at solar sites
• Providing assistance to field technicians with troubleshooting inverter and other solar issues
• Support the development of countermeasures for recurring issues
• Support responses to regulatory bodies for data requests
   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Bachelor’s Degree in other engineering discipline with equivalent experience with electrical systems
• Utility-scale inverter and power electronics experience

Desired qualifications:

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering
• Experience with solar inverters
• Six Sigma Green Belt
• Experience with electrical system modelling software (PSSE, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, etc.)
