Position Specific Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transmission Line Engineering Senior Manager to lead our dynamic engineering team. As the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, planning and execution of transmission line designs. Your expertise in electrical and civil engineering, coupled with strong leadership skills, and commercial knowledge will be instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of designs while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations. Role requires training, due diligence and technical oversight of internal project engineers and engineers of record (EOR) for all assigned E&C transmission line projects to ensure compliance with required generation interconnection agreements, project specifications, site specific design requirements, IEEE, NESC, ASCE and all other applicable industry codes and standards including corporate safety goals

 

Responsibilities:

  • Employee in this role will lead a team that supports early-stage design through commissioning for assigned projects by the hiring of project engineers of record, review of scope-of work documents, transmission line route analysis, EOR plan and profile drawings, design reviews, vendor product procurement, evaluations and contract oversight, material vendor contract support, field construction support and problem solving. 
  • Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation including system impact studies, facility studies and Interconnection agreements and ensures that Transmission Owner requirements and E&C engineering design are consistent and in compliance with all ISO requirements and incorporated into the project design. 
  • Support NEET during RFP development and scope review of standalone to ensure consistency compliance with all ISO requirements and incorporated into the project design. 
  • Lead and manage a team of transmission line engineers, providing guidance and support throughout project life cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop project strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the design and optimization of transmission line systems, considering technical specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for transmission line projects providing recommendations for mitigating potential challenges
  • Monitor projects budgets timelines and resource allocating to ensure efficiencies and cost effectiveness
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies advancements and regulatory changes integrating relevant innovations into project designs
  • Foster a culture of safety quality and continuous improvements within the engineering team
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. Review and approve engineering documentation ensuring compliance with acceptable standards and specifications
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex engineering issues as they arise during project execution
  • Represent E&C in major transmission line route reviews to minimize risk of delays or exceeding the project budget.
  • Works collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans and lines of demarcation.
  • Meets corporate objectives with limited oversight.
  • Supports constructability reviews and resolves lessons learned issues as needed.
  • Supports Cost team requests and provides technical evaluations.
  • Support Legal in any regulatory filings, depositions and/or hearings as an expert witness.
  • Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance/adapt their designs to better integrate with NEER’s philosophies

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and leads engineers in basic, unique and complex functions which have important impacts on major company programs
  • Creates project estimates and budgets
  • Ensures that NERC, Regulatory, and Sarbanes-Oxley are compliant
  • Acts as technical liaisons and provides training and development for engineering personnel within their areas of expertise
  • Develops strategic business plans
  • Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Engineering
  • Experience: 10+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's - Business Administration
