Position Specific Description

The Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Energy Storage Engineering Manager who is passionate about renewable energy. In this position, with a team of reporting engineers, you will be heavily involved with battery augmentation projects from design to execution as well as leading our subject matter expert team, to include exposure to cross functional teams across the NextEra Energy Resources organization. You will be part of a growing team of experts who not only provide excellent inputs and analysis but are also customer service oriented with internal and external stakeholders. 
Employees in this role are strong problem solvers, blending creative and analytical skills to solve complex integration of batteries of differing technologies to existing sites. You will use utilize data from various internal and external sources to perform technical due diligence and propose storage & hybrid solutions to support our customers’ evolving needs. As an internal support function, you will be expected to work collaboratively across the organization to support design, construction and commissioning.
 

  • Lead subject matter expert team including, electrical engineering, innovation, civil engineering, battery technology, inverter technology, interconnection studies, sound engineering, QA/QC program, permitting and communications.
  • Lead high volume battery augmentation engineering projects 
  • Supports energy storage strategies through technical and market analysis
  • Develops models and dashboards related to energy storage
  • Lead energy storage sizing exercises
  • Coordinate key functions such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design review, resource analysis and legal review
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding prospecting, contracting, permitting, interconnection and policy making
  • Assists in the construction of contractual arrangements for project development
  • Participates in negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Performs detailed design engineering of major components for augmentation projects
  • Supports projects from conception through execution working closely with preconstruction and construction project managers
  • Influences project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work
  • Collaborates with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipment
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls
  • Identifies value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospects
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
