Position Specific Description

The selected candidate provides technical support to the Solar and BESS regional team with a focus on reducing event duration and optimizing site maintenance with a heightened focus on plant controls and networking. This positon will require 20 to 30% travel. 

 

Pimary Duties:

  • System Matter Expect on all types of solar and battery control systems
    • Control Systems, Network and Data Management
      • PLC programming, SCADA
      • Network configurations, Gateways, Switches, Firewalls, modems etc.
      • 3rd party networks, EWIS, historian
      • Relays, RTUs, 
    • Battery Control and Monitoring systems
    • Battery Support Systems
      • HVAC
      • Fire Protection Systems
    • Inverters controls
    • Tracker controls
  • Minimizes Event Duration through remote and local technical support.
    • Traveling as required to support emergency repairs and troubleshooting of of solar and storage SCADA, Control and Network failures
    • RIPC qualified
    • Proficient in hands on performance and execution of work related to the site equipment
  • Focuses on optimizing site maintenance
    • Proficient in electrical safe work practices and knowledgeable on the application of NextEra’s electrical safety program
    • Develops technician’s skills and knowledge
    • Standardizes processes, procedures and techniques to ensure repeatability
    • Develops Solar and Battery site operation/ maintenance procedures in coordination with Battery Manufacture and Fleet.
    • Provides SME oversite during significant project work, complex tasks, or warranty work requiring a certified technician
  • Supports customer and vendor relationships
    • Coordinates with business management in scheduling outages and critical technical communications with the customer.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science and/or a minimum of five (5) years previous power plant or relative experience is required.
  • Experience in networking, PLCs, SCADA and control systems, battery energy storage systems, utility scale solar or other power plant experience is highly desired.  
  • Green Belt Certifications are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Safe work practices and high quality written and verbal communication skills desired.
  • Technician is versed in Electrical/Mechanical/Control systems

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides full-time technical support to the operations and business unit personnel
  • Performs system testing and documentation to critical systems during significant changes and/or upgrade
  • Analyzes and identifies the root cause of - and implements comprehensive technical solutions to - complex application deficiencies and system issues
  • Provides technical leadership in the functional specification, design, and implementation of new (as well as enhancements to existing) security center applications and tools
  • Develops new (and improves existing) processes with goal of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in work flow, and meeting or exceeding the key operational performance targets
  • Establishes, documents, and maintains procedures and guidelines related to the day-to-day operational support provided to the operations and business unit personnel
  • Travels to power plants for onsite troubleshooting support
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The estimated base pay for this position is $76,000.00 to $114,000.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
