Position Specific Description

Do you want to be on the front line helping the world’s largest companies decarbonize?  This position will lead a team of energy consultants at Fortune 1,000 companies to mature them along the decarbonization journey.  The perfect candidate has a successful track record in both management consulting and the energy industry but must have at least 10+ years of successful experiences in one or the other. 

 

Goals of a consulting engagement may include:

  • Educating a client on the financial benefits and phases of a decarbonization journey
  • Calculate or validate clients baseline Greenhouse Gas (GHG) by location over time
  • Calculate or validate clients GHG goals by location over time
  • Calculate or validate a decarbonization plan prioritized by best client ROI that achieves their GHG goals
  • Provide client with pricing on all actions required over next 5 years to meet goals
  • Setup systems and processes to allow clients to track their progress towards GHG emission goals

 

A successful candidate must have:  

  • Ability to quickly integrate & understand the challenges facing fortune 1,000 company stakeholder
    • CEO, CSO, CMO, CIO, Sustainability Directors, Energy Procurement Leaders, Information Technology professionals, and may more
  • Ability to translate these challenges into an engagement goal and plan
    • Determine best pre-work before an engagement begins
    • Determine what skills are needed on the engagement
      • Navigate internal organization to acquire skills needed for success
      • Navigate client organization to acquire skills needed for success
    • Determine appropriate timeline and sub-tasks needed for the engagement
    • Determine what output will most resonate with the key stakeholders at each specific account
  • Ability to deliver concise executive level summary of the engagement to the C-suite of the client
  • Ability to translate the NextEra opportunity size in Revenue $ by year to NEE executive leadership

In addition to client engagements, a successful candidate will be expected to expand NEEs library of tools/services that help clients decarbonize.  This can be in the form of engagement templates, industry usage and decarbonization models, software enhancement requests, marketing material, and more.  They will also be expected to recruit, grow and retain jr. consultants on the team that can grow into engagement leaders

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 10-20 years of relevant experience (Management Consulting &/or Energy Industry)
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment
  • Initiative taker, eager to break new ground, create opportunities for others
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively verbally and in writing form

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree (Technical or MBA)
  • Six Sigma or other data analytics certifications

 

Job Overview

This position is responsible for managing a team that negotiates and executes complex structured transactions across various NEE product offerings, with a particular emphasis on new clean energy products. Employees in this role mentor their team throughout the transaction process interacting with front-line originators and potential customers to understand their needs and develop product structures to meet them.  Employees are responsible for guiding the team throughout the development of the deal structure, ensuring the development of accurate and strategic pricing.  This position will work with team leads to develop creative solutions to structure transactions and oversee, guide, and negotiate the contract to be signed between NextEra and the counterparty.  This position is also responsible for selling the deal internally, navigating a rigorous vetting process, to gain approval and managing the team through execution which includes gaining input from several different departments such as Pricing, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Risk Management, and Trading Groups.
 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicates directly with potential customers and front-line originators to gain an understanding of customer needs in order to propose solutions, and/or negotiate deal structures and documents that meet those needs          
  • Values and prices integrated solutions that leverage single or multiples product offerings, leveraging internal SMEs for model inputs          
  • Analyzes and develops different structures that optimize clean energy solutions for the customer including any risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified          
  • Focuses on new product development in coordination with different BU SMEs and in-house ESG expert          
  • Oversees, guides, and negotiates the contract and related documents that will be signed between the Company and the counterparty          
  • Prepares presentations and other internal communications for senior leadership to guide and support the internal vetting process          
  • Coordinates across BUs and within shared internal departments involved in the transaction such as Pricing, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Risk Management, and Trading Groups          
  • Presents deal to senior leadership, seeking approval of the proposed deal structure          
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
