Position Specific Description

In this role you will report to the Distributed Generation (DG) Early Stage Land Development Project Director and be responsible for early-stage greenfield land acquisition in the Northeast. You will work directly with the early stage land team to identify and secure optimal greenfield sites in order to cultivate a pipeline of viable, competitive solar sites in support of the region’s origination strategy.


You will be responsible for planning, controlling and directing real estate activities such as site location and acquisition, right of way negotiations, building and land acquisition and disposition, space leasing, and maintenance of properties to support renewable site development. This position has significant travel requirements.


Your job will include making initial contact with landowners and keeping a thorough record of all communication with landowners. Oftentimes, you will be the first point of contact for the Company and will need to understand the business and the scope of the specific project being proposed on someone’s property. The right person for this role is well versed in the process for developing and constructing solar projects and will be able to answer basic questions about the company and characteristics of solar projects. You will be responsible for obtaining all information required to request a real estate agreement within the guidelines of the Company’s internal processes (e.g., landowner contact information, title and deed information, legal descriptions, key financial and commercial terms of the agreement, vesting deed, probate documents, certificates of trust, etc.). Your role will also entail coordinating communication between the early stage land project manager and the landowner to facilitate negotiations of the real estate agreements and to coordinate site access when necessary.


The perfect candidate for this role possesses the know-how to take initiative when necessary to pursue the most desirable sites for our greenfield pipeline in a timely manner.


Main attributes and requirements:

  • Experience researching private and public records to determine property ownership, mineral rights.
  • Ability to obtain a notary license in a specific state assigned to you.
  • Meticulous record keeping of conversations with landowners and status of land campaigns.
  • Highly personable and able to take initiative.
  • Experience negotiating transmission easements and renewable lease agreements preferred.
  • Weekly reporting of conversations with landowners and an updated summary of land campaigns is a requirement.
  • Able and willing to travel on short notice.

Job Overview
