Position Specific Description

This role is responsible for the development and integration in a Hadoop environment of new or existing applications into the technical infrastructure and existing business processes.  Candidates will provide technical or functional guidance to project and work teams as needed within a specific discipline.  Candidates will collaborate on an on-going basis with the Business Systems Analyst.   Analyzes, Designs, builds, installs, configures and supports a Hadoop environment.  Maintains and/or enhances existing or new systems and creates documentation that is reliable and efficient.

 

Required Qualifications: High School Graduate/ College or University Sophomore working toward bachelor's degree in: Computer Science or Information Technology.

Must have completed course work in database design/ structure as well as basic analytics.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Analytical Problem Solving, Report Development, Good Listening Skills, Team Player, Effective Written Communications, Effective Verbal Communications, Analysis, Strategic Planning, SQL, Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially excel), Database Structure, Web Technologies, Information Coding Standards, Programming using any or all of the following: C#, C++, Java, JSN, HTML, Python, Spring boot, shell scripting.

 

Qualifications that are a Plus: Knowledge of Agile Methodologies,  working towards a Data Scientist Track, Hadoop Administration, development in Kafka, Spark, Hive, HBase, Data Modeling, Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite of products.

Job Overview

Employees in the role will be provided mentoring and practical hands on experience for relevant career-related activities encountered in the student’s area of study or specialization. To be considered for this position the applicant must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. Candidate must also have a current GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

•   Assists department with assigned projects
•   Completes challenging projects and assignments
•   Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
