Position Specific Description

Looking for a curious, analytical self-starter to support FPLES in developing new products and building business cases. You’ll help turn ideas into testable concepts, conduct market and customer research, and pull together the financials needed to evaluate viability. You’ll collaborate across NextEra Energy—partnering with engineering, finance, product management, and legal—to advance opportunities from early research through pilot planning and go-to-market recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Research markets, customers, competitors, and regulations to identify opportunities and size TAM/SAM/SOM
  • Build and maintain financial models (unit economics, pricing, P&L, cash flow, NPV/IRR, sensitivity cases) to support business cases
  • Translate insights into product requirements and pilot test plans; support pilot execution and measurement
  • Collaborate with engineering on feasibility and costs; with finance on assumptions and ROI; with legal/regulatory on compliance, contracting, and risk
  • Prepare clear deliverables (slides, memos, dashboards) for leadership decisions and track KPIs and milestones
  • Standardize and improve innovation processes and templates (e.g., business case packs, handoffs, scope of work)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience building financial models
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint/Slides
  • Analytical problem-solver
  • Clear communication and stakeholder skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Experience leveraging AI to complete business tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to energy services, distributed energy resources, home services/IoT, demand flexibility, EVs, or utility programs
  • Experience with NPV/IRR, cohort and sensitivity analyses; familiarity with Power BI/Tableau
  • SQL or Python for data analysis is a plus; familiarity with project tools (e.g., JIRA/Confluence) helpful

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
