Position Specific Description

The Smart Grid Operations Department in the Power Delivery Business Unit is seeking an Engineer I to join their team.

The selected candidate for this role will oversee the deployment and maintenance of Automated Feeder Switches (AFS) on the FPL distribution grid. These AFS include Scada-Mates, IntelliRupters, RS PME, and Electronic Reclosers. This role includes troubleshooting various systems that support FPL’s AFS fleet, including SCADA, IP networks, and radio communication systems. This position interacts with various groups in Power Delivery such as Grid Automation, Distribution Control Center, Reliability, Distribution Planning, Service Centers, Hardening Groups, PDDC, and many others. Job Overview

This job is responsible for applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Employees in this role evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects. This position conducts analysis on system performance and reliability strategy and provides recommendations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Works on all aspects of engineering design and permitting
•   Acts as a single point of contact for mid-level complexity projects for the department
•   Tracks and reports on performance
•   Delivers company standards, policies, training, and support of organization
•   Prepares communications and presentations, and conducts meetings
•   Meets attendance and storm duty requirements
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's - Engineering
•  Experience:3+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
•  Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
•  Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
•  Master's Degree
•  Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
•  Six Sigma Master Black Belt
