Position Specific Description

The successful candidate will join NextEra’s Federal Regulatory Affairs team, a high-functioning and collaborative in-house legal team based out of NextEra’s Washington, D.C. office that includes seven FERC attorneys plus support staff.  The team represents NextEra and its subsidiaries before FERC, including Florida Power & Light Company, NextEra Energy Resources, and NextEra Energy Transmission.  The ideal candidate will have multiple years of in-house or law firm experience supporting the FERC-jurisdictional components of utility-scale renewable project development, including the generator interconnection process, market-based rates, and transaction approvals under section 203 of the Federal Power Act.  Experience with cost-of-service ratemaking and regulatory accounting is also highly valued.

•   Provides written and oral legal advice to clients
•   Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the organization
•   Works to ensure budget compliance and avoids the need for outside counsel
•   Ensures disclosure of potentially material legal issues to senior leadership
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  Member in Good Standing of State Bar
•  High School Grad / GED
•  Juris Doctorate
•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience:5+ years
