Position Specific Description

 

The Nuclear Maintenance Supervisor position is assigned to the Point Beach Maintenance I&C Department and will be responsible for: Providing first level supervision of represented employees in accordance with the Company/Union Collective Bargaining Agreement and Work Standards. Provide oversight to the direct repairs of equipment in the plant. Assure timely and effective performance of assigned maintenance by trained and qualified personnel using approved procedures and work practices. Assure station maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with maintenance personnel and safety policies by complying with administrative and technical procedures and work rules. Administer personnel activities by conducting fair and effective implementation of the Company/Union Collective Bargaining Agreement and Nextera Energy policies, practices and procedures. Demonstration of leadership qualities in the performance of day-to-day duties. Perform supervisory duties, which include conducting personnel evaluations, hiring, disciplinary and discharge recommendations. Other functions of the Nuclear Maintenance Supervisor may be to perform additional responsibilities under performance improvement or work week coordination. While in this role the responsibilities include: Developing human performance and maintenance communications, communicating performance issues through face to face or written communications, review performance issues and identify commonalities, evaluate common cause issues on maintenance performance and development of actions plans, identify training improvement opportunities, perform field observations, participate on Human Performance Review Boards & Steering Committees, engage in plant self-assessment, industry benchmarking, and event investigations.

Job Overview

This position ensures timely completion of plant equipment maintenance work. Employees in this role oversee predictive and preventive maintenance activities to ensure continuity of operations. Individuals guide diagnostics, corrective action, repair, replacement, testing, and calibration of plant equipment, systems and instrumentation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and oversees maintenance procedures, methods and programs
  • Coordinates maintenance activities among plant and fleet departments
  • Establishes and enforces expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, corrective actions and appropriate work behaviors
  • Performs job site observations to ensure safety and quality standards are met
  • Conducts daily briefings of work status
  • Oversees daily employee activities, training, and performance management
  • Makes routine supervisory decisions
  • Informs management of plant issues and status of objectives
  • Maintains program compliance with plant, fleet and industry requirements
  • Creates and achieves group budget
  • Meets or exceeds site-specific ANSI standard requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Bachelor's - Engineering
  • Nuclear Experience: 5+ years

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

  • Maintenance, operations and/or engineering experience at either a nuclear or fossil generating station: 5+ years
  • Experience with generating station maintenance activities

 

Nuclear Specific Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical field or Associate's degree in related maintenance field or military background in either maintenance or nuclear operations
