Position Specific Description
NextEra Analytics is seeking a well-qualified software engineer to join our Technical Support team. The engineer in this role will interact with all business units in NextEra Analytics and will work in maintaining existing software products. Qualified candidates will spend most of their time updating and improving software that helps NEA provide innovative forecasting and optimization solutions for the energy industry. Employees in this role are analytical and creative problem solvers with a successful track record of diving into issues, asking questions that lead to solutions, and fixing issues in a timely manner. The candidate should also possess the ability to participate in and lead technical discussions, actively contribute within small project teams, and mentor less-experienced team members. Engineers in this role will work closely with the Customer Support team within NextEra Analytics to identify the root cause of the problem. Any issues that result in needing a code change will be passed to the Technical Support team to assess and complete, from debugging and making code changes all the way through to deploying a fix to the production system. The ideal candidate will have software engineering experience with exposure or an understanding of Python and/or Java, as well as the ability to debug and investigate logs within AWS and on-prem servers. This position writes and tests software to aid in development and support of products. Individuals in this role work with Technical Leads on software system architecture and module design. This position participates in required product development process ceremonies. Employees in this role are responsible for writing and refining technical requirements and technical design documentation.

- Conducts system testing and codes unit tests and support features
- Documents technical requirements and other technical documentation
- Works with product team to refine product requirements
- Collaborates on high level software design projects

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience: 4+ years
