Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is seeking an experienced full-stack software development engineer to join our New Product Engineering team in St. Paul. Our SDEs work in a fast-paced environment alongside data and research scientists to deliver innovative forecasting and optimization solutions for the energy industry. Engineers contribute to all phases of the software development life cycle and are encouraged to use the technical stack that best aligns with the problems they're solving. Recent projects have included AWS serverless, Grafana, TimescaleDB, Vue 3, and Python or Rust. We follow an onsite work schedule with teams collaborating in-person.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and deliver industry-leading technology solutions to complex energy challenges
  • Code in multiple languages, most recently Python and Vue.js
  • Conduct system testing and create unit tests for new and existing features
  • Write technical documentation for requirements and system architecture
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including requirements refinement, estimation, standups, and retrospectives
  • Collaborate on high-level software design and system architecture
  • Lead small project teams and mentor junior team members

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of software development experience

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in system design and software architecture
  • Strong communication skills with technical and product teams
  • 1+ years of recent Python and/or Vue/Angular/React experience
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, primarily AWS
  • Exposure to CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code processes

Job Overview

This position writes and tests software to aid in development and support of products.  Individuals in this role work with Technical Leads on software system architecture and module design.  This position participates in required product development process ceremonies.  Employees in this role are responsible for writing and refining technical requirements and technical design documentation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Codes in multiple languages in support of software products and the development of software products
  • Conducts system testing and codes unit tests and support features
  • Documents technical requirements and other technical documentation
  • Works with product team to refine product requirements
  • Collaborates on high level software design projects
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: 4+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s - Engineering

 

The estimated base pay for this position is $103,200.00 to $154,800.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
