Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is currently seeking a Research Scientist to join our R&D team. As a division of NextEra Energy, we own and operate the world’s largest renewable energy fleet of wind, solar, and storage assets. This position will primarily focus on R&D related to the optimization of solar asset design and operational performance. As such, a deep understanding of solar energy modeling methods and software like SAM and PVsyst, the translation thereof to real-world operational performance, and the feedback loop to improve energy modeling capabilities and operations is critical to succeed in this role. Job Overview

Employees in this role will support the development and operations of our wind and solar generation assets. The position supports Senior Research scientists on research topics, analytical results, and industry advances. Individuals focus on researching meteorological and climate influences on wind and solar generation, including analysis related to plant operations and performance.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides scientific support to the wind and solar development and operational teams regarding challenges that arise in their workflow 
  • Researches meteorological and climate influences, operational and performance analyses in support of Wind and Solar generation fleets 
  • Provides data and other findings to support the wind and solar development and operational teams 
  • Advises the Chief Scientist as well as WindLogics and NextEra management on research topics, analytical results, and industry advances 
  • Provides support to Senior Research Scientists 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years
  • Master's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree
