Position Specific Description

Employees in this role make decisions and recommendations having significant impact on engineering and related activities for the company, support RCA investigation and negotiates issues with engineers and officers of other organizations and companies. Position applies engineering knowledge to a variety of assignments aimed to support rotating equipment operations in our Nuclear, Renewable and Fossil fleet. Successful candidate will be expected to implement innovative and economically solutions to problems encountered, demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, planning, and support activities at the sites and/or at the shop during outages or planned maintenance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for fulfilling all safety regulations, making safe choices for preventing injuries, enforce and enhance safe work practices, and for advocate of the use of engineering controls
  • Provide input for making operational decisions based on design information, probabilistic risk/safety assessments, operating experience, vendor information, analytical techniques, and engineering principles
  • Identify and address potential failure modes and the effects of proposed changes to plant design components important to safety and reliability
  • Identify, evaluate, and address design vulnerabilities through modifications, maintenance, or other compensating measures to restore or improve design and operating margins
  • Identify equipment management strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance, to improve equipment performance and ensure long-term reliability
  • Identify, evaluate, and address physical evidence, possible and probable causes, and applicable operating experience to ensure that all relevant information is considered
  • Establish and maintain high standards of quality by champion the applicable codes and standards, design requirements, and operating margins
  • Perform reviews of work performed by vendors to verify requirements are met, risks are identified, and necessary compensatory or contingency actions are implemented
  • Support and coordinate on-site and off-site surveillance activities
  • Advocate for permanent resolution of abnormal conditions, adverse trends, and long-term equipment deficiencies to prevent unplanned equipment failures, margin reduction, or a loss of function
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Desired Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering and 5+years relevant duties, or MS 3+years relevant duties
  • Experience at power plants operations or an OEM of relevant equipment is desirable
