Position Specific Description

    

Job Overview

Assist in the performance of analytical, preventative and corrective chemical/radiochemical functions to ensure the safe, efficient and dependable operation of the Station.  Perform activities under direct to limited supervision, depending on the complexity of the activity and successful completion of training.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in and successfully completes Station and Chemistry Department training programs; continues participation in such programs to enhance job proficiency.
  • Performs or assists in performing the daily activities of the Chemistry Department including preparation of logs, records and historical data.
  • Assists in chemical addition, chemistry sampling, chemistry supply maintenance, recordkeeping and other duties as assigned.
  • Assists in the testing, maintenance and calibration of Chemistry Department equipment.
  • Assists in the preparation of chemistry programs, procedures and practices associated with the department.
  • Develops familiarity with standard chemistry procedures, practices and codes and performs duties accordingly.
  • Assists in performing special tasks and analysis using analytical techniques and complex equipment.
  • Keeps Chemistry Supervision apprised of conditions that could affect the safe and efficient operations of the Station.
  • May be required to participate in radiological emergency activities, as needed.
  • Recommends termination of any department activity which is not being carried out in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, regulations, requirements or accepted practices.
  • Recommends the termination of any activity which jeopardizes personnel safety, equipment safety, or continued power generation.
  • Required to be a member of the Seabrook Station Emergency Response Organization (ERO), when assigned, and to adhere to all related requirements specified in the Seabrook Station Radiological Emergency Plan.  These requirements include, but are not limited to, maintaining applicable ERO position qualifications, participation in drills and exercises, and responding to an actual emergency (including radiological).
  • Required to participate in major outages, when assigned, by performing a designated outage position, and maintaining required training qualifications.  An outage assignment may involve shiftwork and/or working extended hours outside of normal schedule.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Qualification

  • High School Grad / GED
  • One to two years of experience in chemistry preferably at Seabrook Station or a nuclear power plant or similar facility

Preferred Qualification

  • Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent education and/or experience preferred
