Position Specific Description

The Regional Director, CHP & Resiliency will lead the sales and project origination process for the Distributed Generation team’s CHP & Resiliency business, which is focused on CHP, other onsite gas and backup solutions, and microgrids. 

 

This position is responsible for developing the go-to-market strategy and originating and securing projects nationwide through direct customer relationships and strategic channel partnerships.  This is a client-facing role, which requires travel and excellent interpersonal skills.  Experience interacting at a high-level with customers is a must.  In this role you will manage a small team of originators, who will also bring opportunities to the business while supporting your efforts.  You will also manage the internal activities required to ensure we develop the most optimal solutions and provide maximum value to our customers. 

 

NextEra offers a full suite of Distributed Energy Resources, including solar PV, energy storage, CHP, other onsite gas solutions, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, fleet electrification, hydrogen and water reclamation.  As a member of the DG team, the Regional Director, CHP & Resiliency will work closely with the other members of the Origination team to find ways to deliver holistic solutions to our customers.

 

The energy market is complex, fast-paced and constantly changing.  To be successful in this role the following qualities are a must:

 

  • Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
  • Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with at least one (preferably more) of the following: CHP, linear generators, fuel cells, other onsite gas or backup solutions, or microgrids
  • Willingness to travel

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Manages all day-to-day strategy, sales and project origination efforts for DG’s CHP & Resiliency business
  • Identifies and secures projects with utilities, MUSH and C&I companies nationwide via internal and external channels
  • Manages originators on the CHP & Resiliency team
  • Collaborates with DG’s Engineering and Construction, Valuation, Legal, and other SME teams to develop optimized proposals
  • Negotiates term sheets with clients to secure project opportunities
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

This position is responsible for originating projects through strategic channel partnerships and industry relationships and responding to competitive solicitation processes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Manages all day to day sales and project origination efforts for rooftop, carport and ground-mount distributed generation solar projects which sell power to commercial, government and non-profit entities
•   Identifies solar opportunities via internal channels and ensures an adequate project pipeline and reviews potential project opportunities
•   Reviews, prepares and negotiates term sheets with clients to secure project opportunities
•   Collaborates with company's transaction, project finance, legal, engineering and construction teams to ensure successful origination of viable projects
•   Develops external solar opportunities
•   Creates and maintains Distributed Generation marketing materials
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
