Position Specific Description

Location: San Francisco Office or Remote (California). Remote option may be considered in regionally appropiate locations (West Coast).

 

The expansion of the transmission system will pave the way for a carbon-free future that allows renewables to be implemented in resource optimal locations and transported to load centers.  In order to achieve this goal, significant amounts of new transmission infrastructure will need to be built. NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) is the leading competitive transmission developer in the US and Canada to develop transmission solutions that enable this future. The NEET Project Director leads the successful development and execution of new transmission projects or upgrades to existing transmission projects.

 

Responsibilities include:
•    Leads and executes the key stages of transmission project development, including siting, right of way acquisition, environmental, permitting, engineering/design, regulatory requirements, project legal review and financial feasibility
•    Drive strategic land acquisition efforts
•    Assist in developing proposal response packages.
•    Ideal candidate will have experience in renewable and/or transmission development.

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new or enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad /GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience:  7+ years
