Position Specific Description

eIQ DevOps engineers collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, product experts and business leaders to design, build, and maintain applications that model and operate electrified fleets. We work as a team: each of us taking their turn to lead, follow, teach, or learn as the occasion requires.

Your responsibilities will be to build and maintain our running software infrastructure, maintain security and reliability for its users, and assist developer productivity, applying modern best practices for cloud computing environments. Your work will be evaluated on its maintainability and simplicity. You should be comfortable thinking across the systems whose health you are responsible for, the hardware they operate on, and the coding workflow that creates them. 

Your work will include skills in: 

  • Production deployments on Kubernetes in Google Cloud, including troubleshooting REST APIs 

  • Telemetry (monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing) in DataDog, Google Cloud, Kubernetes  

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Packer, Kubectl, Git) 

  • CI/CD (Bitbucket, CircleCI, etc.)  

  • Reliability engineering 

  • Programming (simple scripts in common languages - Python, Bash, Go, Perl, etc.) 

  • Planning & executing work in Jira, Confluence 

You'll work closely with your DevOps peers, software engineers, and engineering leads. Next year, you will likely participate in on-call rotations. AWS and GitHub experience a plus but not required. 

Job Overview

Employees in this role are responsible for automating the process of software delivery and infrastructure changes. Individuals drive continued improvement of software delivery process.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the continuous integration services maintenance and configuration and keeps the build environment for the software developers working well
  • Maintains and creates automatic deployment of software builds to test and production environments and enables the operations team to easily and consistently deploy software developed by the  new products teams
  • Monitors system development and maintenance and ensures that staff at all technical levels are informed of the health of our systems
  • Continually evaluates Operation teams processes and automates repetitive and temporary solutions
  • Improves the product environment and practices used by the software developers
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 3+ years
