Position Specific Description

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of a substation in Alpine, CA. Activities could include protective relay settings, vendor coordination, field commissioning, and associated high voltage switching. You will also be responsible for all the associated local, state, and federal compliance activities required. You will be one of two local operations point of contacts for NEET activities in this area which could include after-hours call out coverage during an emergency.

 

Employees in this role apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Provide direct support to achieve safe, reliable and regulatory compliant construction, upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance of protective relaying systems, substation integration & automation systems, substation control systems and remote terminal units. Execute, track and report out maintenance and project progress. Ensure compliance to NERC (PRC, CIP) standards and protocols for station equipment. Ensure compliance to construction specifications, operating standards and procedures.

 

In addition, you will be expected to support other projects in the state and North America. Most of this support will be done remotely but this could require travel to assist in major projects or commissioning up to 20%.

 

Duties:

  • Periodic inspections and condition assessment of facilities and nearby areas
  • Operations and maintenance of the facility, including contract management
  • Coordinate any major projects
  • Compliance-related activities associated with NextEra Energy Transmission including, but not limited to, NERC Standard Requirements, and other compliance-related tasks as assigned
  • Support other NextEra Energy Transmission sites within North America as assigned including technical assistance, design reviews, and commissioning support

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Protection and Control Experience 2+ years
  • Electrical Engineering background preferred
  • Prior transmission engineering and maintenance

 

Based on business unit needs, this position is a combination of remote and site work support located in Alpine, California.  Successful candidate expected to live within 1 hour of site location.

Required Qualifications

•  Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
•  Bachelor's - Engineering
•  Experience:5+ years

•  Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
•  Master's Degree
•  Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
