Position Specific Description

The Vegetation Maintenance Technician ensures the safety and reliability of power lines and infrastructure by managing vegetation growth along transmission and distribution rights-of-way. They assess, maintain, and control vegetation using specialized equipment, following regulatory standards and company policies.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect rights-of-way, identify vegetation concerns, and prioritize maintenance activities.
  • Perform manual and mechanical vegetation control to maintain clearances around critical infrastructure.
  • Utilize equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, and herbicide application tools.
  • Follow safety guidelines and document work progress accurately.
  • Collaborate with teams, participate in training, and support emergency response efforts.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, and promote safety and environmental stewardship.

Job Overview

This position performs routine maintenance and care of grounds associated with solar generation facilities including, but not limited to using motorized tools to cut grass, trim bushes, plow snow, manually clean solar panels, and general maintenance of the facility. Needs to have the ability to perform corrective maintenance and repair of equipment.  Must be able to perform work independently within supervised guidelines. Work may be performed in inclement weather of both extreme heat and cold conditions.  

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment as required to maintain vegetation and ground conditions (equipment includes but is not limited to zero turn lawn mowers, skid steers, tractors with brush hogs, sickle mowers)
  • Perform routine and basic corrective maintenance on equipment
  • Plow snow during winter months
  • Manually clear snow from panels
  • Operate snow clearing equipment
  • Manually clean solar panels
  • Operate panel cleaning equipment
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
