Position Specific Description

Our Florida City Gas team is growing and you could be the missing link! In this role you will work independently to design and prepare timely, safe and cost effective natural gas infastructure improvements including system replacements due to degradation, system relcoations due to state, municipal, and private entity construction conflicts, system reinforcements due to pressure concerns, and system expansion due to growth. Designs will include applicable CAD drawings, permits, and cost estimate system improvements including bridge attachments, railroad crossings and directional bore operations. You will also coordinate customer requirements with various departments and prevailing authorities.


Additional duties include:

  • Analysis of constuction proposals for DOT, municipal, and private projects for conflicts with exisiting gas utilities
  • Compliance with all engineering principles, gas operating standards, local code, state and federal rules, regulations, mandates and statutes
  • Easement agreement preparation and support
  • Construction and bid proposals
  • Representing the company at meetings by communicating policy, procedure, and other relevant gas industry information
  • Meet and negotiate with city and state officials, engineers, and construction contractors to resolve conflicts in a timely manner
  • Meet and guide Company construction personnel, pipeline contractors, and private constuction contractors on job sites to assure the most cost effective designs for resolving conflicts are utilized.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in a GIS, engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience in the Natural Gas industry


Job Overview

Employees in this role provide project management and design services for distribution facilities. Individuals apply a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. This position acts as a single point of contact for projects in the area’s service territory and makes decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. This role is responsible for proactive and reactive communication pertaining to project scope until customer is ultimately satisfied. The successful candidate must be highly knowledgeable and proficient in the design of the Distribution System, both in new construction and maintenance activities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs work order assessment and completes the most complex of designs to meet internal/external customer needs and valid company requirements
  • Coordinates planning, organization, and implementation of engineering projects with other operating or engineering units to facilitate assignment completion
  • Produces a resource estimate (e.g. man-hours, materials, work type) necessary to execute the work
  • Evaluates distribution system capability to serve new load while understanding and mitigating potential future impacts of the new load
  • Provides and maintains cost-effective design while considering the impact to the customer and valid customer requests
  • Leads project management initiatives and performs estimating and budgeting analysis
  • Oversees all aspects of engineering design and permitting
  • Works with other department within the organization to establish customer requirements and project cost
  • Prepares communications, conducts meetings, and implements improvement measures
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
    Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 2+ years
