Position Specific Description
Employees in this position oversee the implementation of Transmission and Substation vegetation management for NextEra Energy Resources and NextEra Energy Transmission throughout the US. Must complete and maintain the NEE Vegetation Transmission Certification. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Employees is in this position develop action plans to improve performance and quality of inspections and work. Employees in this role must also possess skills to drive reliability improvements, increase customer experience and satisfaction, and certainty in work execution within established guidelines and budgets. Individuals in this role respond to elevated customer concerns and make decisions with impact to company brand. Individuals in this role possess the necessary qualifications to respond to customer outages during regular weather and natural disasters. Travel up to 80%
Job Overview
Employees in this position oversee the implementation of Transmission and Substation vegetation management across 47 states and 4 provinces in Canada. This position also requires the performance of due diligence for ongoing merger and acquisition activities and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The individual will develop action plans to improve performance and quality of inspections and work, responsible for the Vegetation Management Inspector role, vegetation management activities for substations, clearing rights-of-way for new construction, and/or communications role with public and regulatory entities. Since the activities are accomplished primarily using contract resources, a significant part of this position’s responsibility involves contractor management and oversight. This position is responsible for implementing program activities to ensure some or all the following: Utilities Commission compliance, state/local/ordinance regulatory compliance, franchise agreement compliance, and system reliability during regular weather and natural disasters.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Regularly audits inspections to ensure federal and state regulatory compliance and directly oversees line clearing activities for the regulated Florida utility as well as all NEER and NEET assets in 47 states and 4 provinces in Canada
- Responsible for designing, scheduling, approving and supervising the work scope of Transmission and Substation vegetation management across 47 states and 4 provinces in Canada
- Contract Management Support and participate in contract development/award process; monitor performance of contract resources to assure safe work practices, vegetation management procedures/standards adherence, and productivity consistent with NextEra Energy expectations
- Responsible for working with and coordinating with local electeds and community/county leadership to advocate for legislation and the Right Tree Right Place program which enables customers to not plant trees directly underneath power lines or Rights of Ways (ROWs)
- Required to support all reactive work including regularly occurring outages, higher impact outage events, major storm restoration events, out of area/state travel as necessary
- Work with the ROW Manager to address any discrepancies between contractor performance and NEE policies/procedures and expectations
- Position requires a general understanding of electrical grid engineering standards and coordination with engineering teams to ensure proper clearances and vegetation clearing techniques during pre-construction activities of major work
- Promotes safety consciousness and adherence to OSHA and company safety requirements in all work activities to achieve an injury-free work environment and motivates and develops employees to ensure an effective and efficient workforce
- Coordinate activities with Control Center and leaders to ensure proper restoration procedures are followed.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 6+ years
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- ISA Certified Arborist

- ISA Certif Arborist Utility Specialist
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
The base pay for this position is $97,600.00 to $146,400.00 per year. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
