Position Specific Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technical Specialist to join our Transmission & Substation Nuclear team in Port St Lucie, FL. The chosen candidate will be primarily responsible for the maintenance, upgrading, and troubleshooting of our alert siren system. 


Key Responsibilities
•    Oversee the technical operations related to the alert siren system at our nuclear plant and other locations as required.
•    Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions to ensure maximum uptime of the siren alert system.
•    Perform regular preventive maintenance and upgrades as necessary for the alert siren system.
•    Coordinate with the operations team to ensure that the siren system integration with other safety and emergency response systems is seamless.
•    Adhere to all applicable safety and compliance regulations concerning nuclear plant operations.
•    Maintain accurate records of all system checks, maintenance, and repairs.
•    Use commercial vehicles to transport equipment or personnel as needed, in compliance with safe driving practices.
•    Statewide travel, some overnight 

 

The selected candidate for this role will be required to:
•    Have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or able to obtain one within the first 3 months.
•    Be able to work out of a bucket truck at heights of ~60 feet.
•    Have prior experience and expertise in alert siren systems or similar technological systems.
•    Familiarity with RF communications, analogue, digital and microprocessor technologies.

•    Must meet requirements necessary to be badged for access at nuclear plant.

•    Have strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
•    Be able to read electrical schematics and prints.
•    Must be proficient with hand tools and power tools.
•    Be able to work extended hours.

Job Overview

This position acts as a technical liaison and provides training for engineering and operational personnel within their areas of expertise. Employees in this job are responsible for one or more programs of such diversity and scope to be of importance to overall company objectives and reliability of the system. This position has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, engineering, budgeting, specifying, executing and coordinating projects. This position plans and often times executes these projects.

•   Provides engineering, design, and environmental support
•   Prepares reliability plans, event responses, and asset management
•   Leads projects, procedures, and process development
•   Performs estimating and budgeting analysis
•   Provides operational support of all NextEra Energy Inc. affiliates
•   Analyzes project costs and schedules
•   Ensures NERC and regulatory compliance
•   Ensures Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
•   Provides coaching and mentoring to employees
•   Reviews equipment, materials specification development, and revisions
•   Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
•   Ability to work extended hours
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  High School Grad / GED
•  Associate's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience:5+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
•  Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
•  Six Sigma Master Black Belt
