Trans Bay Cable, LLC owns and operates a 53-mile, high-voltage direct current underwater transmission cable system which provides approximately 40 percent of the electrical power used by San Francisco.

 

Position Specific Description

This position manages the engineering team for Trans Bay Cable, LLC (TBC). This position requires overseeing projects that support continuous improvement of transmission operations, leading root cause corrective action analysis of system issues, NERC operations and planning activities, operator training, and development and execution of reliability improvement projects. Candidates will interface with internal and external stakeholders in this role such as the California ISO, associated committees, regulatory bodies such as WECC, and other engineering & technical services teams in the greater NextEra Energy team. This position may also support non-technical engineering leadership activities for other NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) Operating companies. 

 

This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Job Overview

Leaders in this role are responsible for providing guidance and oversight to ensure consistent engineering practices and policies across all departments within business unit. The position leads a team of engineers, technical specialists and leaders who perform engineering functions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Plans and leads engineers in basic, unique and complex functions which have important impacts on major company programs
•   Develops project estimates and budgets
•   Ensures that NERC, Regulatory, and Sarbanes-Oxley are compliant
•   Acts as technical liaisons and provides training and development for engineering personnel within their areas of expertise
•   Develops strategic business plans
•   Develops technical interconnections requirements
•   Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
•   Ability to work extended hours
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Engineering
•  Experience:8+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience:5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
•  Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
•  Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
•  Master's Degree
•  Six Sigma Master Black Belt
