Position Specific Description
The Distribution Operations Department is looking for a Distribution Control Center Operator to join their team in Pensacola, FL. We truly have the best team in the business. Apply today to be a part of it!
Employees in this role are responsible for the daily monitoring and system performance of Florida Power & Light (FPL) Northwest Florida (NWFL) Distribution system using established policies and procedures. They direct field personnel in the identification, isolation and repair of abnormalities in the FPL’s NWFL Distribution System. This position works closely and coordinates with internal and external customers driving pro-active response to avoid outages and reactive response to quickly restore outages. FPL’s NWFL Distribution Control Center Operator works independently in a computer-based environment. Multiple functions are performed simultaneously in highly stressful conditions while in a particular workspace.
Job Overview
This job is responsible for resource and workload planning of the Distribution Control Center. Employees in this role develop accurate and timely communications to facilitate resource planning and restoration response efforts and ensures proper allocation of resources, balancing network risk and cost effectiveness.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates resource movement and tracking during restoration events and manages event calls
- Confirms planned work is ready, resolving conflicting requests and reducing delays in order to improve productivity
- Reviews dispatcher schedules and shifts to ensure proper coverage for restoration and switching activities
- Prepares, conducts and leads weather and resource meetings
- Works closely with internal customers to minimize variability to the scheduled switching activities in the control center
- Resolves workload conflicts and unplanned requests
- Coordinates resource movement and tracking
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Associate's or Equivalent Experience
• Experience: 3+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree
• Experience: 5+ years
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
