Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an entry-level engineer to support License Renewal (LR) and Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) activities at Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) as the site prepares for restart and long-term plant operation. This position supports the implementation and maintenance of aging management programs, tracks regulatory commitments, and plans, coordinates, and tracks required inspections, examinations, and program deliverables. The role also reviews inspection and examination results for aging-related degradation, supports engineering evaluations, and assists with program documentation, corrective action activities, NRC audits and inspections, licensing activities, and regulatory requests.

The successful candidate will collaborate with program owners, system engineers, maintenance, operations, and fleet subject matter experts to ensure program requirements are met and support safe, reliable plant operation. The role will also develop knowledge of the plant licensing basis and applicable regulatory requirements while providing engineering support for site needs. This opportunity is well suited for early-career graduates in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Materials Engineering interested in developing expertise in nuclear engineering, regulatory compliance, equipment reliability, and plant life extension while contributing to DAEC’s restart and future operation.

Preferred candidates may also have internship, co-op, or engineering project experience; familiarity with nuclear power, industrial operations, or other regulated industries; and knowledge of materials degradation, structural evaluations, mechanical systems, or reliability engineering. EIT certification or progress toward professional licensure, as well as experience with technical reporting, project coordination, or regulatory programs, is also valued.

Job Overview

This job supports the project and operational work of senior engineers. Employees in this role perform fundamental engineering tasks that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Individuals participate in the engineering analysis and evaluation process and test solutions to solve problems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs fundamental engineering activities that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Participates in the analysis and evaluation of engineering problems
  • Prepares design change and technical evaluation research for review  
  • Develops test activity to evaluate recommended solutions and analyzes data for result inconsistencies
  • Coordinates Engineering activities with other Engineering departments and with other company departments
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • GPA: 3.0 or greater
  • Experience: 0+ years

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

  • Entry level job requiring comprehension of engineering principles, theory, and their application to power plant systems, components, and structures
  • Knowledge of assigned Engineering specialty
