Position Specific Description

The Wind Fleet Electrical team is seeking an electrical engineering candidate with 5+ years of experience to support the operation and maintenance of the NextEra Energy Resources wind turbines. 

Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Power Conversion
  • Power Electronics 
  • Motors and small generators
  • Electrical parts repair processes
  • Parts management processes
  • Electrical System Troubleshooting

 

The team supports the operation and maintenance of 12000+ Wind Turbines across North America from headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The goal of the Electrical Wind Fleet team is to increase uptime of the fleet and decrease operation and maintenance costs. Scope of roll includes: 

  • Leading Root Cause Analysis investigations
  • Developing repair opportunities with 3rd parties
  • Addressing ongoing parts obsolescence 
  • Operational improvements through preventive, condition based and predictive maintenance
  • Development and validation of equipment reliability improvements
  • Electrical Safety and Short Circuit analysis
  • Power System analysis and modeling
  • Maintenance procedure development
  • Product validation

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to wind sides and vendor shops (up to 20%)
  • Willing and able to climb wind turbines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams
  • Willing to work in an office environment
  • Ability and interest to learn and self-teach new skills and technologies
  • Ability to communicate and present to leadership
  • Basic financial and business acumen, Can translate engineering solutions into financial benefit to business
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables
  • Data driven decision maker

•   Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field
•   Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
