Position Specific Description

NextEra Power Generation Division is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our advanced application team in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This position requires senior level software design skills and an aptitude for developing and maintaining real-time monitoring, work automation, and problem detection, n-tier applications. This job involves taking the lead on providing solutions to solve challenges in supporting a large power generation fleet while working with streaming data, databases, and work ticket tracking systems. The candidate in this job will apply experience in performing activities including requirements gathering, scope definition, functional specifications, database design, code development, support, and troubleshooting, and sometimes providing guidance to junior developers. In addition, candidate needs to be flexible enough to work independently or in a small team setting, will require attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to keep up with changing business needs and be able to work directly with customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

· Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, implement, deploy, maintain, and enhance new and existing software

· Support software written by others to ensure team and department objectives are met

· Consult with customers to understand problems and develop potential solutions in a solo or collaborative environment based on scope

· Collaborate with IT and other business units when necessary to develop compliant applications

· Maintain awareness of new technology and collaborate how to integrate into team solutions when applicable

· Employ good software development practices for creating, editing and managing code

· Develop time estimates for developing solutions based on best practices in software development

· Performs other job-related duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications 

 

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience

· 4+ years of software development experience

· Strong proficiency in C# .NET Core framework

· Proficiency in Angular 12+ and TypeScript Preferred Qualifications

· Strong communication skills with technical and product stakeholders

· Ability to accurately estimate work scope and identify project blockers

· 1+ years of recent C#, Angular, Amazon cloud services (AWS) CI/CD, GitHub Actions experience

· Strong understanding of AWS cloud computing deployments

· Expertise in CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code processes

· Ability to read code in other languages and support, debug, improve, migrate, or retire as needed.

 

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Provides full-time technical support to the operations and business unit personnel
•   Performs system testing and documentation to critical systems during significant changes and/or upgrade
•   Analyzes and identifies the root cause of - and implements comprehensive technical solutions to - complex application deficiencies and system issues
•   Provides technical leadership in the functional specification, design and implementation of new (as well as enhancements to existing) security center applications and tools
•   Develops new (and improves existing) processes with goal of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in work flow, and meeting or exceeding the key operational performance targets
•   Establishes, documents and maintains procedures and guidelines related to the day-to-day operational support provided to the operations and business unit personnel
•   Travels to power plants for onsite troubleshooting support
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
