Position Specific Description
This position will report to the Central Maintenance Project Team Manager and will be located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
The Senior PGD Tech Services Project Manager is responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of approved capital projects across the NextEra Energy Resources wind fleet. This role leads end-to-end management of major wind turbine restorations following catastrophic failures, as well as the implementation of fleet-wide upgrade and countermeasure solutions that improve long-term asset performance.
The Project Manager oversees all phases of project execution—including engineering coordination, procurement, logistics, construction, field supervision, execution, and commissioning. The role requires strong technical knowledge across civil, mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines, with hands-on understanding of foundations, collection systems, towers, blades, major components, cabling, and turbine control systems.
The Senior PGD Tech Services Project Manager maintains full financial oversight of assigned capital projects, including budget planning, cost control, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with corporate financial requirements to deliver projects within approved capital and operating budgets. The role is accountable for achieving targeted financial performance while balancing schedule, scope, safety, and quality.
This position drives key decisions and develops project strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders, OEMs, contractors, and external partners. The Project Manager also establishes and maintains standardized project management processes for reporting, contracting, compliance, and governance. Responsibilities include optimizing contractual terms, addressing regulatory and safety requirements, identifying risks with mitigation strategies, and consistently delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Developed clear, technically sound scopes of work for complex turbine restoration and engineering projects, accelerating vendor alignment and reducing change-order exposure.
- Built and managed Smartsheet schedules that improved visibility into project milestones, driving on-time delivery of high-impact capital projects.
- Collaborated with OEMs and suppliers to secure materials, validate technical requirements, and coordinate execution strategies that minimized downtime.
- Led recurring stakeholder updates, ensuring effective decision-making, risk mitigation, and alignment across engineering, operations, and field teams.
- Facilitated pre-bid and pre-construction meetings that improved contractor readiness, clarified technical expectations, and reduced execution variability.
- Monitored project execution against budget, scope, and contractual specifications, consistently delivering safe, compliant, and cost-effective results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: 4+ years
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Ability to become NextEra climb-certified and climb a Wind Turbine for engineering inspections and quality of work assurance.
- Travel (10%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s – Engineering or relevant field/construction experience
- Master’s Degree
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified
- Proficient in PM Scheduling software (i.e., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet)
- Basic understanding of crane operations
