Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and implement integration solutions for the MuleSoft platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting scalable, robust, and secure integrations that meet the business needs of the organization. This role requires deep technical expertise in AWS Services, API development, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. In addition to integration responsibilities, this position develops and maintains high-level designs for overall logical and technical IT architecture.
Essential Responsibilities
Integration Development & Architecture
- Design, develop, and implement complex integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
- Architect scalable, robust, and secure API-led connectivity solutions that support business objectives
- Develop and maintain RESTful and SOAP web services following industry best practices
- Create and implement standardized API versioning strategies enabling parallel version management across multiple environments (PROD, UAT, SIT, DEV)
- Design microservices architecture and implement message queuing systems for enterprise-scale applications
Technical Leadership & System Design
- Develop and maintain high-level designs for overall logical and technical IT architecture
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters and Product Owners to ensure successful project delivery within Agile frameworks
- Implement zero-downtime deployment strategies through enhanced CI/CD processes
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with upstream and downstream IT partners to deliver projects successfully
- Engage with cross-functional teams including business analysts, project managers, and infrastructure teams
- Participate in architectural review sessions and provide technical guidance to development teams
Quality Assurance & Best Practices
- Ensure all integration solutions meet security, performance, and scalability requirements
- Implement testing strategies for complex integration scenarios
- Maintain documentation for technical designs, API specifications, and integration patterns
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of production issues
Position Specific Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in integration architecture and API development
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex integration solutions in a large or complex organization, preferably in the energy sector
- Strong technical skills in Java, Python, or other programming languages relevant to integration development
- Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services, API design, microservices architecture, and message queuing systems
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strategic mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Experience working in a mature Agile development environment, with a highly matrixed, fast-paced set of teams
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience with AWS Services and cloud architecture
- Expertise in API development and management
- Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and best practices
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of security protocols and compliance requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- AWS certifications are a plus
- Agile/Scrum certifications beneficial
Job Overview
This position writes and tests software to aid in development and support of products. Individuals in this role work with Technical Leads on software system architecture and module design and typically gains experience acting as the owner of a complete module in the system. This position participates in required product development process ceremonies. Employees in this role are responsible for writing and refining technical requirements and technical design documentation.

- Codes in multiple languages in support of software products and the development of software products
- Conducts system testing and codes unit tests and support features
- Documents technical requirement and other technical documentation
- Works with product team to refine product requirements
- Collaborates on high level software design projects
