Position Specific Description

The Senior Power Plant Thermal Performance Engineer will be responsible for optimizing the thermal performance of power plants within our portfolio. This position requires in-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to evaluate and enhance the efficiency and reliability of power generation systems. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive performance improvement initiatives and solve technical challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze the thermal performance of power plants, including turbines, boilers, heat exchangers, cooling systems, and other thermal systems.
  • Conduct performance testing and develop performance models to assess system efficiency, identify areas of improvement, and benchmark against industry standards.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, performance evaluations, and action plans to optimize thermal systems and enhance plant output.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement performance improvement projects, including upgrades, modifications, and retrofits.
  • Develop and maintain thermal performance databases, monitoring systems, and software tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Provide technical support for plant operations, troubleshooting thermal performance issues, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Stay informed about the latest technology advancements, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting power plant thermal performance.
  • Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities related to thermal performance initiatives.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in all performance improvement activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in thermal performance engineering within the power generation industry.
  • Proficiency in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermal system modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with performance analysis software and tools (e.g., PEPSE, EBSILON, PI System, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance practices, and industry standards.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to various plant sites as required.
