Position Specific Description

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Level Technical Lead Engineer to enhance the development and maintenance of our portfolio of products for Smart Grid Product Solutions. This is a Senior technical position requiring strong technical expertise and experience in managing large-scale, high-quality, and high-availability software development projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and experience in software engineering, product management, and Smart Grid technologies.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong experience and success in implementing and leading an agile product delivery operation.
  • Strong technical expertise in full-stack software engineering, including software design, development, testing, and DevOps.
  • Experience with agile development operations.
  • Expert in AWS cloud-based technologies and services.
  • Experience with Automated Meter Infrastructure solutions, specifically Itron Hardware, Network, Products, and Solutions.
  • Adept at creative solution development; driven to innovate, automate, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to decompose business and technical requests into meaningful capabilities, processes and technical architecture.
  • Experience with product strategy and road mapping, using techniques such as design thinking or lean canvas.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated influential skills in a complex organization.
  • Must have a strong cybersecurity, quality, ownership, and continuous improvement mindset.

 

Position Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with software engineers in the development, maintenance, and support of software products related to Smart Grid Product Solutions.
  • Help facilitate the evaluation, risk assessment, selection, and design of application stack and product standards.
  • Architect, design, and implement high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.
  • Actively participate in firsthand software development, including coding, code reviews, and debugging.
  • Define and guide the implementation of DevOps practices for continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code.
  • Collaborate with business partners and other IT organizations to analyze strategy and trends to define the requirements, principles, and models that guide technology decisions.
  • Drive innovation and develop roadmaps through innovative technologies and approaches to fulfill strategic business plans.
  • Define, communicate, manage, and execute on technology roadmap while partnering with Product Owners and Product Managers.
  • Design, own, and communicate governance, assurance, and standards activities for enterprise technology architecture compliance.
  • Deliver technology architecture artifacts, including reference architectures or concepts of operation.
  • Mentor and guide the technical development of team members.
  • Provide technical assistance during critical production issues and ensure a prompt resolution.
  • Dive in and execute on critical tasks and projects when and where needed.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a Smart Grid role
  • Preference for candidates to have Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and Advanced certifications in AWS, Agile, or relevant technologies

This position is accountable for ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and continuity of IT systems, as well as ensuring that excellent technical support services are provided.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, implements, maintains, integrates, customizes and enhances existing or new systems

•  Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology

•  Automates the handoff of code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

•  Participates in the change management and  service ticket management processes, including receiving, resolution monitoring and ensuring customer satisfaction

•  Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered

•  Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems

•  Designs, develops and  tests experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames

•  Ensures that applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, security, compliance, environmental, and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation

•  Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors on matters relating to computer systems as required

•  Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: 4+ years
