Position Specific Description

This Central Maintenance Manager role leads the Projects Team supporting major projects across NextEra Energy primarily focused on Power Generation assets. The role is accountable for end-to-end project management from early development through execution and closeout ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost compliance.

• Lead a team of Project Managers delivering fossil and renewable projects across the portfolio, driving consistent project controls and knowledge sharing
• Own integrated project planning and controls (scope/WBS, schedule/critical path, change control, risk/issues) and provide clear status and performance reporting.
• Manage project financials end-to-end (budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accruals, variance analysis) with audit-ready documentation and SOX compliance.
• Drive cross-functional alignment and execution readiness with stakeholders and contractors/OEMs, including procurement strategy and contractor oversight.
• Ensure safe, compliant execution and disciplined closeout (final cost reconciliation, turnover documentation, lessons learned, and continuous improvement).
• Champion AI usage and integration into our daily work.

Qualifications: Experience leading major maintenance outages and/or large capital projects in power generation (combined cycle preferred); bachelor’s degree (Engineering/Construction Management) preferred. PMP and/or Lean/Six Sigma strongly preferred.
 

Job Overview
Leaders in this position have overall accountability for leading the Projects Team and coordinating internal and external resources to deliver project scopes with certainty. This role ensures disciplined project management across safety, environmental compliance, quality, schedule, and cost, and provides clear status, risk, and financial reporting to plant and Central Maintenance leadership.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Builds and leads a high-performing projects team; sets expectations, coaches project managers/coordinators, and drives consistent use of standard tools, templates, and project controls.
• Champions continuous improvement (Lean, standard work, digital tool) to streamline outage planning/execution processes and improve schedule and cost performance with a strong focus on leveraging AI.
• Leads safety and quality execution rigor during outages including readiness reviews, daily coordination cadence, issue escalation, and resolution of scope/cost/schedule risks.

Project Management Skills & Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-discipline projects (civil, mechanical, electrical/controls) from scope development through commissioning/closeout.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to drive decisions and alignment across Operations, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and contractors/OEMs.
• Proficiency with project controls: planning/scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, change control, and risk/issue management.
• Strong documentation rigor with ability to maintain audit-ready records, support budget reporting, and operate within SOX-compliant processes.

Required Qualifications

• High School Grad / GED
• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
• Experience: 8+ years (project management and/or major maintenance leadership)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical), Construction Management, or related field
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Professional Engineering license (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), and/or Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt)
