Position Specific Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Project Manager to spearhead our Fossil Management of Change (MOC) program at NextEra Energy Resources. This critical leadership role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive change management processes across our fossil fuel generation fleet to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and safety performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Management of Change program for fossil fuel generation assets
  • Establish MOC governance framework, policies, and procedures aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Drive strategic initiatives to enhance operational reliability, safety, and environmental compliance across the fossil fleet
  • Partner with senior leadership to align MOC program objectives with business goals and risk management strategies

Process Development & Improvement

  • Design and implement standardized MOC workflows, approval processes, and documentation systems
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure program effectiveness and continuous improvement
  • Lead process optimization initiatives to streamline change evaluation and implementation
  • Ensure integration with existing asset management and reliability programs

Replication & Standardization

  • Develop and execute replication strategies to standardize MOC processes across all fossil generation facilities
  • Lead cross-site implementation of proven MOC methodologies and best practices
  • Establish standardized templates, procedures, and training materials for consistent application fleet-wide
  • Coordinate replication efforts with site-specific requirements while maintaining program consistency
  • Monitor and validate successful replication through performance metrics and compliance audits

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for proposed changes to fossil fuel systems and processes
  • Ensure all changes comply with NERC, EPA, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and reporting systems
  • Support regulatory inspections and compliance audits

Team Development & Collaboration

  • Build and mentor a high-performing MOC team across multiple generation sites
  • Provide training and development opportunities for MOC coordinators and subject matter experts
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Reliability Engineering, Technical Services, and Operations teams
  • Serve as primary liaison with external consultants and regulatory agencies

 

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical preferred) or related technical field
  • 8-12 years of progressive project management experience in the power generation industry
  • 5+ years of experience with fossil fuel generation technologies (coal, natural gas, oil)
  • Proven track record managing large-scale change management or process improvement programs
  • Experience leading multi-site replication initiatives and standardization projects

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of fossil fuel generation systems, processes, and operational requirements
  • Experience with Management of Change methodologies and risk assessment techniques
  • Knowledge of NERC reliability standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements
  • Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience with process standardization and replication methodologies across multiple facilities

Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and complex stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to executive leadership
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience facilitating workshops, training sessions, and technical reviews
  • Proven ability to influence change adoption across diverse organizational cultures and site-specific operations

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience with NERC GADS reporting and reliability metrics
  • Background in reliability engineering or asset management
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance programs (Title V, NSPS, etc.)
  • Experience with digital transformation and technology implementation projects
  • Change management certification (Prosci or similar methodology)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies

  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis
  • Identifies issues and challenges, measures and validates results, and implements solutions
  • Provides expert information to internal and external clients on complex issues
  • Creates and communicates presentation materials for report out and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducts external research and stays abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project
  • Provides coaching, leadership and direction to project team
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
