Position Specific Description

The Power Generation Division Fossil Controls Engineering Manager leads a team of controls engineers responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of instrument and control systems across NextEra Energy's fossil generation fleet. This role ensures reliable, efficient, and safe operation of generation assets while driving continuous improvement in controls technology and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management
•    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of controls engineers and technicians
•    Establish performance objectives and support career development
•    Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement
•    Coordinate workload allocation and project assignments across the team
Technical Leadership
•    Oversee design and implementation of control systems for fossil generation assets
•    Ensure compliance with NERC standards, IEEE guidelines, and industry best practices
•    Drive standardization of control systems and engineering processes across facilities
•    Review and approve complex control system modifications and upgrades
Project Management
•    Manage controls engineering scope for capital projects and maintenance activities
•    Collaborate with project managers, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure successful project delivery
•    Develop and monitor budgets for controls engineering activities
•    Ensure projects meet schedule, quality, and safety requirements
Strategic Planning
•    Develop long-term technology roadmaps for control systems
•    Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential application to generation assets
•    Support business development activities with technical expertise
•    Participate in strategic planning for generation fleet optimization

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience:5+ years
