Position Specific Description

 

The Director will lead the strategic program to replace the company’s large scale legacy generation telemetry data warehouse with modern historian and data lakehouse technologies. This role will serve as the business relationship and process owner across Power Generation, Business Management, and Power Marketing, ensuring improved data reliability, streamlined process handoffs, and greater business value from the delivery of the generation telemetry data platform. The Director will be accountable for program execution, stakeholder alignment, and the delivery of measurable operational outcomes across IT and business stakeholders. This includes driving cross-functional collaboration, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring the program achieves both technical and business objectives ultimately resulting in the decommissioning of the legacy data repository.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Program Leadership – Lead the enterprise-wide replacement of the generation telemetry data platform, delivering a modern sensor data solution that enables reliable, scalable, and future-ready operations while driving the successful decommissioning of legacy custom platforms.

Data Reliability & Metrics – Define and track key performance indicators to ensure reliable delivery of generation asset data. Translate technical telemetry information into meaningful metrics for executives and cross-functional stakeholders. Promote out-of-the-box solutions and minimize customizations to ensure maintainability and scalability.

Data Governance – Ensure the successful development and rollout of a comprehensive data governance strategy to improve quality, consistency, and trust in telemetry data.

Value Tracking – Establish detailed cost tracking capabilities and a chargeback model. Monitor and report on costs, savings, and business value across the telemetry process, ensuring accountability for measurable benefits.

Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure initiatives are meaningful, value-based, and aligned with business needs.

Customer Focus – Listen to stakeholder pain points and translate them into actionable technology solutions that drive efficiency and business value.

Prioritization & Alignment – Drive alignment and prioritization of business requirements across diverse stakeholders, ensuring resources focus on the highest-value outcomes.

Technology Experience – Lead large-scale technology programs with demonstrated success; large scale IoT or industrial telemetry program experience strongly preferred.

 

 

Preferred Experience

 

• 10+ years of experience leading large-scale data technology programs in telemetry-intensive industries.

• Strong background in data platforms, historians, and/or modern data lakehouse technologies (Databricks experience preferred).

• Demonstrated ability to work across IT and OT domains in complex operational environments.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.

• Experience managing budgets, tracking value delivery, and reporting program performance to senior leadership.

• Strong leadership, relationship-building, and change management skills.

Job Overview

•  Oversees the value stream by focusing on cost and risks of technology portfolio to meet business needs

•  Supports and fosters innovative technologies to deliver new ideas that enable business transformation

•  Ensures high levels of ongoing system and application performance in production environments

•  Oversees the development of processes and tools to automate code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

•  Establishes and drives technology roadmaps that align with current and future business needs

•  Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives

•  Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: 10+ years

•  Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years
