Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an IT Director to lead a transformative, enterprise-level initiative focused on reshaping end-to-end business processes across asset, material, workforce, and financial management.

This senior leadership role will oversee the full portfolio of IT projects supporting this business transformation, including supply chain, work management systems, and data analytics platforms. The Director will serve as the central IT point of coordination, driving alignment across diverse business units and ensuring a unified “One IT” execution model.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in asset-intensive operations, a track record of execution under ambiguity, and the ability to blend strategic vision with operational rigor.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Portfolio Leadership

  • Lead a portfolio of IT programs aligned with the business transformation roadmap, encompassing supply chain, work management, data integration, and analytics.
  • Drive toward aggressive business and technology targets while maintaining the broader enterprise architecture and business process vision.
  • Promote out-of-the-box solutions and minimize customizations to ensure maintainability and scalability.

Program Execution & Governance

  • Execute a structured delivery model to define vision, assess current state, design target architecture, and develop implementation roadmaps.
  • Oversee cross-functional execution and ensure systems and data integration align with enterprise goals and financial value realization.
  • Ensure efficient execution of key deliverables including project governance, change management strategies, and scalable integration approaches.

Cross-Functional and Vendor Collaboration

  • Serve as the single point of accountability representing IT across multiple business units facilitating collaboration, alignment, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Partner with business, operations, finance, and technology teams to ensure transformation objectives are met.
  • Manage external vendors and technology partners to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.

Technology and Domain Expertise

  • Provide coordination across IT technical teams to ensure strong technical insights and architectural guidance to ensure the right platforms and practices are adopted.
  • Apply subject matter expertise in supply chain, inventory management, warehouse operations, asset management, and end-to-end asset lifecycle optimization.

Leadership and Influence

  • Act as a senior leader and advisor—coaching teams, resolving conflicts, and enabling a culture of execution, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Thrive in ambiguity with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, from field operations to executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in energy, utilities, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with systems like SAP, Maximo, and enterprise data integration patterns.
  • Certifications in Agile, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience leading large-scale IT or digital transformation programs in asset-intensive industries.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex programs involving ERP, operational systems, and analytics with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of asset management, supply chain, inventory and warehouse management, and financial integration.
  • History of managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and multiple project tracks simultaneously.

Job Overview

This position establishes strategy, develops business plans, and oversees and directs the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions to meet business needs. Leaders in this role provide leadership and oversight to manage performance and results in one or more Information Technology (IT) disciplines. Individuals will be accountable for the reliability, performance, security, and continuity of IT systems and supported business processes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Provides leadership, influence, vision, roadmap, and direction to the organization to contribute to achieving the company's goals

•  Works with IT leaders to develop overall IT strategy in alignment with business strategy

•  Oversees the value stream by focusing on cost and risks of technology portfolio to meet business needs

•  Supports and fosters innovative technologies to deliver new ideas that enable business transformation

•  Ensures high levels of ongoing system and application performance in production environments

•  Oversees the development of processes and tools to automate code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

•  Establishes and drives technology roadmaps that align with current and future business needs

•  Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives

•  Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED

•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: 10+ years

•  Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years
