Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Division is currently seeking a Director for the Renewables Center for Work Excellence. The CWE team supports operations and maintenance for hundreds of NextEra Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems assets across North America. The Director will lead strategy, execution, and continuous improvement for our work scheduling tools, data analytics and work management processes supporting the operations team in the field.

 

The Renewables Center for Work Excellence exists to serve Wind and Solar/BESS Operations and help our teams use data to make the best total cost decisions in our daily work. The CWE Director is accountable for delivering on our shared business goals and financial performance objectives, while remaining customer-focused and prioritizing the needs of our technicians and Ops leaders. The Director listens to field teams, understands their pain points, and delivers practical, data-driven solutions that make work safer, easier, more standardized, and more efficient.

 

The CWE team manages multiple tools that enable us to schedule optimal daily maintenance work, as well as analytics platforms to monitor productivity and work quality. CWE also supports cross-functional strategic initiatives that impact daily operations work. The role requires close partnership with PGD Operations, Engineering, Operational Excellence, Business Management, IT and senior PGD leadership.

 

The ideal candidate is a service-oriented, strategic, and people-focused leader. He or she must be data-driven and quickly become fluent in numerous financial and operational KPIs. He or she should also be comfortable with complex data sets and managing the priorities for a small team of software engineers and technical contributors. The candidate needs to be able to apply a product manager’s skillset to translate customer feedback and complex operational challenges into clear priorities for the CWE team.

 

Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Lead the Renewables Center for Work Excellence teams focused on DevOps, Job Plans and Procedures, and Productivity Initiatives, working closely with peers in CWE and across PGD
  • Set priorities and oversee product roadmap for CWE tools, databases & analytics products
  • Translate operational needs into clear goals, scalable solutions, and measurable results
  • Develop staffing models and analytics to support fleet budgets and workforce strategy
  • Use data to identify process gaps and performance improvement opportunities
  • Drive standardization, simplification, and automation across PGD work management
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers, technical contributors, and other team members
  • Support monthly reporting on site performance KPIs and explain performance drivers
  • Represent the CWE organization in leadership discussions, executive updates, and cross-functional decision forums
  • Up to 10% travel is required to meet with field teams and regional Ops leadership

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, finance, or a related technical or analytical discipline
  • Experience leading technical contributors, project managers, and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage complex workstreams, and deliver measurable operational or financial outcomes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; experience delivering effective presentations to senior executives
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; and ability to use data for effective storytelling
  • Demonstrated customer-service mindset, with experience working across industrial operations, reliability engineering, analytics/data science, or software/product functions
  • Experience and enthusiasm for using GenAI tools for work automation and data analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • 10+ years of total professional experience, and 2+ years of people leadership experience

 

Highly Preferred qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in business administration, engineering, data analytics, or a related field
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Experience in renewable energy operations, power generation, or reliability engineering
  • Experience leading software, analytics, automation, or digital transformation teams
  • Experience with staffing models, budget planning, resource planning, and forecasting
  • Familiarity with project management and work tracking tools such as Jira
  • Experience with Python or SQL; experience using Power BI, Databricks or similar platforms
  • Understanding of databases, APIs, cloud architecture, DevOps, and information systems
