Position Specific Description

The PRC NERC Reliability Engineer ensures compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, particularly those under the Protection and Control (PRC) category. This role involves technical assessments, internal audits, and the development of engineering solutions that support regulatory compliance across power generation and transmission systems.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for NERC PRC standards within engineering and operations teams.
  • Lead or support compliance activities related to PRC standards such as PRC-004, PRC-005, PRC-019, PRC-024, PRC-025, and PRC-027
  • Conduct and review technical studies including relay testing, protection coordination, and power system modeling.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and systems for managing compliance evidence.
  • Monitor changes in NERC standards and assess their impact on operations.
  • Support audit readiness and participate in audits as a technical SME.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure engineering practices align with compliance requirements.
  • Assist in project planning, bid proposals, and technical documentation for compliance-related engineering work

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
