Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced IT AI Manager to join our AI Hub. This role is pivotal in overseeing key flagship projects, ensuring high-value delivery, and showcasing excellent presentation skills and technology management. The IT AI Manager will serve as a bridge between IT and various business units, driving innovation and enabling strategic growth through advanced AI solutions. This role requires constant interaction with executive leadership throughout the business units and the ability to navigate multiple challenges to deliver innovative and reliable enterprise-grade applications. Additionally, the IT AI Manager will align to best practices within the AI Hub and work with other managers to drive best practices and standards across flagship projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Business Units: Act as the primary point of contact for AI-related inquiries, collaborating closely with business leaders and executive leadership to understand their operational needs, strategic objectives, and technical requirements. Ensure alignment of AI initiatives with business goals.
  • Strategic IT Planning: Partner with IT and business leadership, including executives, to formulate an AI strategy in line with business objectives. Assess current AI capabilities and anticipate future needs, identifying innovative AI solutions and technologies.
  • Resource and Budget Management: Efficiently manage resources to meet business needs. Oversee AI project budgets, ensuring optimal utilization of funds for technological advancements, maintenance, and labor costs.
  • Business Requirements Analysis: Identify, gather, and distill business requirements for AI projects. Facilitate focus group sessions, document processes, and ensure AI solutions align with business needs. Work closely with product owners and teams to translate requirements into actionable projects.
  • Project Management: Lead AI project portfolios, ensuring alignment with business goals. Manage timelines, scope, and budget, coordinating with project teams and communicating regularly with stakeholders, including executive leadership. Navigate challenges across team(s) and product owner(s) to ensure successful project delivery. Align with best practices within the AI Hub and work with other managers to establish and drive standards across projects.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure all AI applications and systems comply with internal guidelines and standards. Identify and mitigate potential operational risks while maintaining communication with executives regarding risk management tactics.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with third-party AI vendors, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and deliverables. Ensure outsourcing decisions adhere to budget constraints and resource availability.
  • Change Management: Drive successful implementation of new AI systems and technologies. Support teams through transition stages, implement training programs, and minimize business disruption by effectively managing changes across IT processes.
     

Job Overview

This position guides teams in the execution of agile initiatives to deliver customer value. Employees in this role train and coach in the use of Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP, and scale agile framework practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trains and coaches leaders, teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset
  • Contributes in Communities of Practice (CoP), within the agile network
  • Promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization
  • Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed delivery teams
  • Prepares program and release backlogs, as well as team and program objectives
  • Tracks, promotes, and publishes completed program features and program and team objectives
  • Manages risk and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks
  • Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation
  • Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within the program budget
  • Plays an instrumental role in the organization’s Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
