Position Specific Description

The principal duties of the Instrumentation and Controls Technician consist of performing maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and control components, plant computer and electrical systems, together with the installation of new equipment.

 

Additional Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems at a combined cycle plant in Orlando, FL and a simple cycle plant in Cocoa, FL. Support both plants on a weekday schedule with occasional call outs and weekends during outages
  • Troubleshoot power plant I&C systems, including problem identification, developing alternative solutions, and performing corrective actions.
  • Perform maintenance on continuous emission monitoring systems.
  • Perform modifications to control system logic and graphics as needed.
  • Plan and manage I&C related projects including directing contractors.

 

Required Qualifications

  • The applicant must have a good fundamental knowledge of electrical and electronics theory gained from a college education, military training, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read control loop drawings, piping and instrument drawings, logic drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong problem solving, time management, and communication skills.
  • Be capable of working in a small, empowered team responsible for plant performance and safety.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Emerson Ovation
  • Experience with General Electric MKVIE
  • Combined cycle plant I&C experience.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine operations

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 2+ years
  • Valid Driver’s License (NON-CDL)
