Position Specific Description
The Underwriting Analyst supports the underwriting team by conducting detailed risk assessments and financial analysis of insurance program opportunities and renewals. This role involves gathering and analyzing data from various sources, preparing comprehensive reports, and assisting underwriters by creating the necessary internal documents and overseeing internal tracking of the life of the program. The position requires strong analytical skills to evaluate potential risks, proficiency in underwriting software and databases, and the ability to communicate findings with all stakeholders within the company. The Underwriting Analyst will also maintain accurate documentation, ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements, and contribute to process improvements within the underwriting department as need be.
Job Overview
This job will play a crucial role within the underwriting team, providing essential support throughout the underwriting process. The main focus of this job will be on new business onboarding and renewal processing across all business segments. This job will be responsible for leading the new business onboarding process to ensure a seamless transition and positive experience for new partners. Effective collaboration with internal teams and key external contacts will be essential for this job as it assists with inquiries, manages documentation, and coordinates onboarding activities. Additionally, this job will take charge of the renewal processing at the request of the Underwriter of Record, including requesting updated submission materials from partners and coordinating all internal approvals.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Underwriter of Record with their underwriting review and analysis on all new opportunities
- Lead the new opportunity onboarding process, compiling all relevant documentation from all service departments, tracking outstanding items and confirming that all tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Participate in any applicable onsite and/or virtual Underwriting Audits
- When applicable, attend industry conferences and/or events with Underwriting Team
- Assist the Underwriter with various Underwriting Quality Assurance controls, including periodic review of premium bordereaux, identifying notable inconsistencies in data elements and work with the Underwriter, and if applicable, Operations to reconcile
- Assist the Underwriter of Record with their review of referrals, ensuring all information has been provided, that the risk should have been referred, and responding in a timely manner
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 3+ years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (AICPCU) or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), or equivalent
