Position Specific Description
As a Senior AWS Data Scientist at Palms Insurance, you will play a strategic role in shaping the AI engineering initiatives within our organization. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced individual who can leverage advanced analytical techniques, machine learning models, and data engineering practices to drive business insights and decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the commercial insurance sector, with a strong understanding of its complexities and data-rich environment.
AI Engineering & Integration:
- Build and maintain reliable ETL solutions using AWS services (Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, Aurora) to populate the data warehouse.
- Create LLM based data flows for policy and claims bordereaux ingestion and develop mapping profiles for new data sources with our existing template.
- Ensure data quality through rigorous validation and monitoring of data inconsistencies.
- Co-develop a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the company’s strategic goals in collaboration with the VP of Data Analytics & Technology.
- Oversee change releases, ensuring seamless integration of data science solutions into production.
- Ad-hoc reporting, data analysis, resolving data anomalies, building data trends, statistical analysis, refactoring AWS job-aids pertaining to corporate database
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify, design and implement predictive and prescriptive ML algorithms, to optimize underwriting, claims management, risk assessment, and client engagement.
- Build and maintain feature stores for ML project efficiency and implement statistical analyses for business insights.
- Lead data strategy development aligned with company goals and oversee production deployment of machine learning solutions.
- Lead peer-review processes to ensure high-quality and reliable data science work.
Governance and Compliance:
- Implement data governance standards ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Maintain CI/CD processes via GitHub with comprehensive code documentation and peer reviews
- Stay current with industry trends and evaluate new technologies for enhanced analytics capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Insurance experience
- 7 years of hands-on experience with Python, SQL, NoSQL, and Git process.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services including Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, Aurora
- Strong understanding of database architecture and design principles.
- Proven experience in data warehousing, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
- Strong acumen in coding peer-review and documentation using Git process.
- Expert knowledge in statistical analysis, machine learning, predictive modeling, and data mining techniques.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Grafana) and web app tools.
- Strong Scrum skills for managing projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Job Overview
This position is responsible for developing algorithms, modeling techniques, and optimization methods that support many aspects of NextEra and FPL business. Employees in this role use knowledge of machine learning, optimization, statistics, and applied mathematics along with abilities in software engineering with a focus on distributed computing and data storage infrastructure (i.e., “Big Data”).
