Senior DevOps Engineer – DBA/Sys Admin

United States - Remote

As a Database Administrator, you will play a critical tole to build and maintain Database clusters in multiple environments. You'll configure, monitor and tune performance of PostgreSQL databases.


You will be leading in planning backup and recovery of database information and manage data replication.


You will be required to participate in an on-call schedule to respond to critical system alerts and perform System Administrator duties as needed.


In addition to technical expertise, you should have strong communication skills to effectively work with a cross functional team. You should be comfortable working in an agile development environment and have experience with agile methodologies.




· Work very closely with the EverBright engineering team to build and maintain Databases

· Support new hire onboarding IT needs

· Participate in on-call schedule to monitor and respond to critical system alerts

· Automate backup and recovery of Databases

· Work with the Engineering team to maintain and update seed database for lower environments

· Manage IP traffic using security groups. Configure the parameter group

· Perform Maintenance and management activities

· Plann backup and recovery strategies

· Perform User management

· Monitor the databases. Plan and perform Disaster recovery

· Automate and Maintain Database Lifecycle tools

· Peer review code and adhere to company coding standards and best practices

· Perform system admin tasks - ssh, applying patches, installing packages, restart services, health monitoring

· Perform other job related duties. Train and guide other team members and maintain process/knowledge documentation





· 5+ years of experience as a Postgres DBA, AWS cloud production support environment, backup recovery, replication, high availability, designing and managing schema, monitoring diagnosing and optimizing database performance

· Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery and replication solutions and best practices

· Demonstrated experience implementing deploying Postgres database servers

· Expertise in analyzing query performance using query plans and tuning query performance

· Postgres database performance tuning and script automaton to streamline the process.

· Knowledge of AWS RDS, S3, IAM, RDS Proxy, DMS

· Advanced knowledge of Database Administration on PostgreSQL platforms operating within on premise & AWS installations.

· Advanced knowledge of Database operational monitoring & alerting for PostgreSQL.

· Advance knowledge of backups, restores and recovery models.

· Advance knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics

· Knowledge of Unix/Linux commands and networking

· Knowledge of monitoring tools like DataDog, New Relic, CloudWatch, etc.

· Experience with Kubernetes or Docker, and/or cloud deployment technologies is a plus

Job Overview

This position is responsible for managing, monitoring and deploying a highly available, highly scalable production application. The individual will be responsible for one or more environments and/or systems and interface directly with the Development and Operations team on a daily basis for the maintenance, expansion, and documentation of these environments, providing assistance and review of proposed architectures, as needed. This role is responsible for vetting emerging technologies and guides the direction of the teams that support software development.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drives the automation and continuous improvement of the software delivery process
  • Manages the continuous integration services maintenance and configuration, ensuring the build environment is meeting the needs of the software developers
  • Leads the maintenance and creation of automatic deployment of software builds to the test and production environments, enabling the operations team to easily and consistently deploy new software products
  • Monitors system development and maintenance and ensures that staff at all technical levels are informed of the health of our systems
  • Evaluates Operation teams processes and automates repetitive and temporary solutions
  • Improves the product environment and practices used by the software developers
  • Sets up back-up mechanisms for production environments and test disaster recovery mechanisms
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
