Position Specific Description
NextEra is driving the clean energy revolution through its industry-leading solar software platform and financing program. As an Originator within Business Development, you will be at the forefront of this vision by leading the company’s customer origination and development activities. You will be tasked with supporting the launch of new products and offerings including expansion into new business verticals, tracking and analyzing the performance of new and existing market entries, and developing processes and documentation to support product strategy and delivery. This is an interdisciplinary role which requires working with account managers, solutions engineers, operations, and product, along with business development leaders, to support the implementation of our strategy. The position will enjoy extensive opportunity to support the company’s growth in delivering renewable energy solutions to its customers across the country
This is a customer-facing role, which requires travel and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience interacting with client leadership is a must. You also will manage the internal activities required to respond to bilateral opportunities and formal RFP processes, and ensure we optimize solutions to provide maximum value to our customers. The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, constantly collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer driven deadlines. As part of a growing company, you will also be involved in projects outside of origination. This role will require a strong understanding of solar, storage, and energy efficiency applications as well as key market drivers, and applying this knowledge to identifying and targeting new growth opportunities.

- Experience with origination and business development within the residential and commercial solar and storage industry
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
- Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail
- Strong conceptual skills and customer engagement experience to effectively and quantitatively evaluate various development options in the context of metrics and projections related to customers, growth, revenue, competitive positioning and internal solution capabilities
- Willingness to travel
Job Overview

This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
- Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
- Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
- Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
- Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
- Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
- Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
- Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
- Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
