Position Specific Description

We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager with a background in the insurance industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating operational risks specific to insurance operations. They will work closely with various departments to implement risk management strategies, policies, and procedures, following industry best practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an effective operational risk management framework specific to the insurance industry in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize operational risks inherent in insurance operations, including underwriting, claims processing, operations, finance, actuarial, and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct risk assessments and scenario analyses to quantify and evaluate potential impacts and likelihood of operational risks, considering industry-specific factors
  • Work closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and other business units to develop and implement risk mitigation plans and controls
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) relevant to the Company and create performance metrics to track the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts and escalate issues as necessary
  • Provide risk management guidance and support to insurance business units and senior management, including training and awareness programs on industry-specific risks
  • Review and assess the adequacy of existing insurance policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate operational risks and recommend enhancements as needed
  • Conduct periodic risk reviews and assessments of departments to ensure compliance with internal policies, insurance regulations, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with NEE internal audit, compliance, and other relevant functions to coordinate risk management activities specific to the Company and ensure alignment of objectives
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 8+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's - Business Administration
