Position Specific Description

Employees in this roll will observe, oversee QAQC, and accept installation of new substation electrical systems, including electrical switchgear, transformers, breakers, bus bar, relays, panelboards, electrical cabling with electrical trays and conduits, and communication systems and cabling.

Employee will manage QAQC inspection teams coordinating their site visits and inspection criteria. Employee will also observe contractor’s construction activities, accept work completed in compliance with contract documents, reject defective work, maintain logs of rejected work, assists with resolution of construction issues.

Employees will oversee the completion of tasks associated with readiness for operations for new substations supporting solar, battery energy storage (BESS), and wind projects. The team works to ensure the operations teams are set up for success by managing a transition plan from pre-construction to operations. Employee must ensure completion of transition plan tasks in a timely and efficient manner enabling the success of the operations teams upon completion of construction.

Employees will conduct inspections to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with the contract documents, ensure delivered materials comply with approved submittals, and observe and approve contractor’s testing and QA/QC activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Strong knowledge and experience in substation construction and or operations. Solar, BESS, and or wind experience is desired but not required.

•    Bachelor's in Engineering or equivalent.

•    Six Sigma Black Belt Certified.

 Employees in this role will manage a particular function of a wider team’s overall responsibilities, some of these functions include QA/QC program oversight, engineering program oversight, transition process oversight, information system process oversight, among others. Employees in this role will support the other functional managers as a part of the larger team. Responsibilities will also include assignment of individual construction projects where site visits and inspections are required. Travel can be expected at 50% of an employee’s time.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees a variety of large-scale projects of high complexity
  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
  • Secures required resources and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes
  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis
  • Identifies issues and challenges, measures and validates results, and implements solutions
  • Provides expert information to internal and external clients on complex issues
  • Creates and communicates presentation materials for report out and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducts external research and stays abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project
  • Provides coaching, leadership and direction to project team
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
