Position Specific Description

NextEra is currently seeking an experienced High Voltage Lead Technician to support their field operation group. 

    • Employees in this role:
    • Provide direct support for construction, upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance of HV equipment and substation related equipment. 
    • Conducts testing, maintenance and calibration of protective relays and automation control (SCADA/EMS) equipment. •    Conducts testing, maintenance and configuration of substation RTUs.
    • Execute, track and report on maintenance and project progress.
    • Assist field operations team during switching, maintenance and outages. 
    • Ensure compliance with NERC and ERCOT reliability standards, as well as company guidelines and protocols for station equipment. 
    • Ensure adherence to construction specifications, operating standards and procedures. 

 

Job Overview

This position provides daily supervision and decision-making of tasks for various levels of HV Technicians in their work in the areas of field operations, collection system construction and maintenance, transmission maintenance, substation maintenance, engineering, and troubleshooting support.  This position provides field project planning, leadership and management, and contract coordinator oversite within the fleet with minimal supervision while ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to the power grid. This position is a technical resource to lower lever technicians providing technical guidance and support.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Executes the daily task assignments and decision-making relevant to those specific tasks of self and direct reports
  • Work independently in leading the decisions and execution of daily tasks of self and direct reports with appropriate supervision
  • Plans, assigns, and executes assignments with appropriate oversite by HV Manager
  • Performs and completes assigned Maximo Work tasks with cross-functional assets, resources, and supervision
  • Maintains compliance and non-compliance maintenance schedules under minimum supervision to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, and market requirements 
  • Leads in quality initiatives while learning and utilizing NEE quality tools
  • Maintains adherence to NEE Safety Culture, policies, and processes while meeting all safety targets
  • Participates in collaborative teams with minimal supervision
  • Oversees contractors and vendors for compliance with work scope and adherence to PGD Safety Practices
  • Provides technical assistance and training to direct reports and lower-level technicians in their assignments and in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
  • TDR Fault Locating Equipment Oper Cert

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Valid Driver's License (NON-CDL)
  • Licensed Electrician
  • Cable Locating Principles &Techniques Cer
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
